Welcoming the Year of the Dragon

CNY is just around the corner. Back home, we used to visit relatives and it was a big family gathering event.  It is during these time of the year that I miss being around family.  Well.. now that I have a family of my own, I cannot forget to pass down these traditions to my little man.  I'll start with a Chinese New Year fun craft.

Not surprising, there are so many craft ideas for the Chinese New Year (Internet is a wonderful thing.. I tell you!).. and thank you for those who so humbly provide craft materials freely on the web.    I printed out a template from www.billybear4kids.com and use red party streamer, I purchased from the dollar store.  I can't find a wooden stick around the house, so I substitute using a nice sturdy cardboard paper from a shipping box as a handle.

There you go. its that easy!  A fun dragon puppet for J to play with.  Happy Lunar New Year!

Life is beautiful today! (GMH)

A friend of mine introduced me to this link one day and since then it has became one of my favourite link to visit on a daily basis (Thanks Brandee!).  If you are feeling discourage and need something to cheer you up, I encourage you to read through some of the story posted at www.givesmehope.com.  To start off,let me share with you my favourite story for the day...
-----------
Today my 7 year old daughter gave my 5 year old son a kiss on the cheek.  After she walked away, I saw him rubbing the spot where she had kissed him.  I asked if he was wiping the kiss off.  He said "no, I'm rubbing it in so it gets to my heart faster."

What to do with an old shirt?

Ever wonder what to do with an old shirt that your family member just doesn't want to wear anymore?  Well, my husband wanted to throw out one of his working shirt and it was still in a perfect condition. With the lunar new year coming up, I thought I can use the shirt and turn it into a little hanbok for my little prince.   Since I wasn't able to find any free hanbok pattern online, I just pretty much improvise and do whatever work for me. I have to admit that it was one of the most complicated project I have ever attempted and yes... the inner sewing is not the best I've ever done.  But overall... I think it came out ok...

I'll do better next time. =)
